Henry James Anderson, a well-known American scientist, was born in New York, New York, USA. Alexander Dallas Bache, the Benjamin Franklin's great-grandson, and Henry collaborated on projects. He rose to the ranks of Knight Commander, President of the New York Particular Council, and Supreme Council Head.
Henry James Anderson - Education and Career
After graduating from Columbia College in 1818, Henry decided to go after a career in medicine. He took his talents to Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.
It only took him 7 years to become a math professor at the same place he graduated from at 26 years old. It was in 1825 when he got that position.
Being named an Associate Fellow in the American Academy of Arts and Sciences is no easy task. But Anderson did it all by 1831.
Anderson spent a short time in Paris from 1840 to 1844 where he collaborated closely with astronomer François Arago, an anti-Newtonian.
He served as the geologist on board the American Dead Sea exploration mission in 1848.
The American government released his reports from the mission in 1848 and 1849.
In 1856, Anderson was appointed head of the Special Council of New York.
Anderson traveled for a long time around Europe, Asia, and Africa.

He married Fanny Da Ponte, Lorenzo Da Ponte's daughter.
In 1849, Anderson became a Catholic, and he actively practiced his new religion for the rest of his life.
In Fort Lee, New Jersey, he is interred in a vault beneath the Church of the Madonna.
