Homi Jehangir Bhabha, FRS was born on 30 October 1909 and died on 24 January 1966. TIFR was founded by him and he served as its founding director and professor of physics. Bhabha is considered to be the father of the Indian nuclear program and the founding director of AEET, which was renamed in his honor as the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. TIFR and AEET were the cornerstones of Indian nuclear weapon development, which Bhabha also supervised.
