Dr. Anthony Fauci, an American immunologist, is the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). He was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1940, and grew up in the Bensonhurst district. Fauci has devoted his professional life to researching and treating infectious diseases, such as COVID-19, SARS, Ebola, and HIV/AIDS.

Fauci received his undergraduate degree from the College of the Holy Cross in 1962, and his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College in 1966. 

After finishing an internship, he began working at the NIH in 1968.
