Julius Fast was an American author of both fiction and non-fiction, born on April 17, 1919, in Manhattan. He was the younger brother of novelist Howard Fast. He majored in pre-med and earned a bachelor's degree at New York University. In 1946, he received the first Edgar Award given by the Mystery Writers of America for the best first novel of 1945.
