Grace Hartigan, a well-known American painter, is renowned for her involvement in the Abstract Expressionist movement. Hartigan was born in New Jersey, on March 28, 1922. Hartigan started her creative career in the late 1940s and early 1950s while pursuing her studies with Hans Hofmann, a pioneer in the growth of Abstract Expressionism. One of the few female artists connected to the movement, she is highly acclaimed.

Grace Hartigan Artwork:

Early works by Hartigan were greatly influenced by American Abstract Expressionism as well as European avant-garde groups like Surrealism and Cubism. Her later pieces were more geometric in style and frequently featured Pop Art and Color Field painting motifs. Her pieces including "City Life," "O'Hara's Arrival," and "The Bay" are among of her best-known ones. 

Grace Hartigan Foundation:

A nonprofit organisation called the Grace Hartigan Foundation was founded to uphold the heritage of American abstract expressionist painter Grace Hartigan. The foundation was established to celebrate Hartigan's life and career as well as to increase awareness of and respect for her contributions to the art world. Through exhibitions, educational and research initiatives, and the preservation of Hartigan's archives and materials, it seeks to raise awareness of her work and its influence on the larger cultural scene. 

Grace Hartigan Awards and Recognition:

Throughout her career, Hartigan's artwork incorporated aspects of Pop Art, Impressionism, and Abstract Expressionism. She frequently painted still lifes, abstract forms, and urban scenes. Numerous solo and group exhibits, including ones at the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Guggenheim Museum in New York City, featured Hartigan's work. Throughout her career, she won various honours and prizes, including a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1962.
