Katherine Marlea Clark was born on July 17, 1963. In 2013, she was elected to represent Massachusetts' 5th congressional district as a lawyer and politician. Since 2023, she has served as House Minority Whip, and from 2021 to 2023, she was Assistant House Democratic Leader (also known as “Assistant Speaker”). Melrose, Framingham, Woburn, and many other northern and western suburbs of Boston are included in her district. From 2008 to 2011, Clark served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, and from 2011 to 2013, he served in the Massachusetts Senate.
Katherine Marlea Clark Career:
The Melrose School Committee elected Clark to its board in January 2002, after Clark moved to Melrose in 2001.
In 2004, she unsuccessfully ran against Republican incumbent Richard Tisei for the Massachusetts Senate.
Her first term as Melrose School Committee chair was unanimously elected in January 2005.
While incumbent Mike Festa was running for Middlesex district attorney in 2006, she ran for the 32nd Middlesex House seat. Festa subsequently resigned.
Victory 2006, the state Democratic Party's campaign and fundraising effort for 2006, was named Clark's co-chair.
In March 2008, Clark was sworn in as Melrose and Wakefield's representative.
