Barry Scheck, a well-known American lawyer, was born in 1949, in Queens, New York. Barry is one of the Innocence Project's co-founders. Scheck earned his Yale University diploma in 1971 and his University of California, Berkeley law degree in 1974.

Scheck served as a staff lawyer at the Legal Aid Society in New York City after graduating from law school. Thereafter, he was hired as a professor at the Cardozo School of Law in New York, where he instructed students in trial argument and evidence.

Barry Scheck Education – Innocence Project

The Innocence Project is a nonprofit organization created by Scheck and colleague lawyer Peter Neufeld in 1992 with the goal of releasing those who have been unfairly imprisoned using DNA evidence. Since then, the effort has aided in the release of hundreds of innocent defendants.
