Bhagat Singh, an Indian freedom fighter, was born on September 28, 1907. British colonialists killed 23-year-old Bhagat Singh for his revolutionary actions. A national hero of India's freedom struggle against colonial rule, he is affectionately known as 'Shaheed (martyr) Bhagat Singh.' During his teenage years, Bhagat Singh popularized the slogan 'Inquilab Zindabad,' which became a catchphrase during the Indian independence movement.
Revolutionary activities:
In 1926: Bhagat Singh founded the 'Naujavan Bharat Sabha (Youth Society of India) and became a member of the Hindustan Republican Association (later Hindustan Socialist Republican Association).
In December 1928: Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev plotted to kill James Scott, Lahore Superintendent of Police, in retaliation for the death of Lala Lajpat Rai.
Shortly before his execution, Bhagat Singh was elected president of the HSRA.
In April 1929:, Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt bombed the Central Assembly Hall in Delhi and shouted the slogan of "Inquilab Zindabad!".
On March 23, 1931: At 23, Singh was hanged at Lahore jail. Despite Bhagat Singh's short life, he left a lasting legacy.

In Khatkar Kalan, the Bhagat Singh Memorial was built in 2009
During the 50th anniversary of Sardar Bhagat Singh's death, the Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh Museum opened in Khatkar Kalan, the village where he grew up.
