Jehangir Ratanji Dadabhoy Tata was an industrialist, aviator, entrepreneur, and chairman of the Tata Group who lived outside India. He was the son of Ratanji Dadabhoy Tata and Suzanne Brière, a well-known merchant. His mother was the first Indian lady to drive a car. Tata became the country's first certified pilot in 1929. He is also recognized for founding Tata Consultancy Services, Titan Industries, Tata Motors, Tata Salt, Voltas, and Air India, all of which are part of the Tata Group.

In 1925 – He started as an unpaid trainee at Tata Sons.
In 1932 – He founded Tata Airlines (currently Air India), India's first commercial airline.
In 1938 – Tata was appointed Chairman of Tata Sons, putting him in charge of India's largest industrial company.
In 1968 – Tata founded the Tata Computer Centre as Tata Consultancy Services.
