Lawrence Gene Fullmer was a popular boxer born on July 21, 1931. He was the World Middleweight champion. Since 1951, Fullmer has won 29 of his 30 professional fights, 19 of them by knockout. He was managed by his mentor, Marv Jenson, for most of his career, who encouraged many young people in West Jordan, Utah, to become amateur boxers. On January 2, 1963, Fullmer lost his middleweight title to Dick Tiger via unanimous decision. This would be Fullmer's final professional fight.
