Michael Joseph Connelly was born on July 21, 1956. In addition to detective novels, he writes other crime fiction featuring LAPD Detective Hieronymus "Harry" Bosch and law enforcement lawyer Mickey Haller, among others. In 40 languages, Connelly's books have been translated into over 74 million copies worldwide, and he has written 31 novels and one non-fiction work.
Career:
During 1980: Connelly began working at the Daytona Beach News Journal as a crime beat writer.
1992: The Black Echo, Connelly's first published novel, was written after he left two unfinished manuscripts unpublished.
In addition to The Black Ice (1993), The Concrete Blonde (1994), and The Last Coyote (1995), Connelly wrote three more books about Detective Bosch.
1996: Connelly wrote The Poet, the first of his books not featuring Bosch. Instead, Jack McEvoy is the protagonist.
After writing Angels Flight (1999) about Bosch, Connelly turned his attention to Cassie Black, a Las Vegas thief.
Bosch and McCaleb worked together to solve a crime in Connelly's 2001 novel A Darkness More Than Night.
2005: Bosch published his 11th novel, The Closers.
