Which TENZING 2026 CHARACTER Are You? - TENZING Quiz

Tenzing is a 2026 historical drama from Apple Original Films, directed by Jennifer Peedom and written by Luke Davies. Based on true events, the film focuses on Tenzing Norgay, the gifted Himalayan climber whose life and ambitions became inseparable from Mount Everest.Show More

Genden Phuntsok plays Tenzing, with Tom Hiddleston as New Zealand mountaineer Edmund Hillary, Willem Dafoe as Colonel John Hunt, and Caitríona Balfe as expedition secretary Jill Henderson. The film is scheduled for select theatrical release on October 9, 2026, followed by its global Apple TV premiere on October 16.
The story is set around the 1953 British Everest expedition, but it looks beyond the familiar image of the summit itself. Tenzing has spent years developing his abilities in the Himalayas, and he wants the opportunity to climb as part of the expedition rather than remain limited to a supporting role. His journey is shaped by the social and cultural divisions surrounding the expedition, including differences in class, background, status, and ideas about who deserves recognition for the climb.
Tenzing’s wife, Dawa, encourages him, while Jill Henderson becomes an important ally as the expedition takes shape. Together, Tenzing and Jill work to convince Colonel John Hunt that Tenzing belongs on the British climbing team. Hunt carries the responsibility and authority of leading the expedition, while Hillary enters the story as the climber who ultimately forms a crucial partnership with Tenzing. Their relationship develops amid demanding conditions and competing expectations.
The film also presents an important difference in how the mountain is understood. Western climbers approach Everest as an extraordinary challenge to conquer, while Tenzing reveres Chomolungma as a sacred mother goddess. That contrast gives the climb a spiritual dimension and makes the expedition about more than physical endurance. As the ascent continues, distinctions involving empire and rank become less important than trust, mutual respect, courage, and shared purpose.
This character quiz turns those specific elements of Tenzing into personality choices. Instead of testing facts about the expedition, each question places you in a situation inspired by the film’s climb, relationships, leadership tensions, cultural perspectives, and difficult decisions. Every option represents one of four featured characters: Tenzing, Edmund Hillary, Colonel John Hunt, or Jill Henderson. There are no wrong answers. Your choices simply reveal which character’s instincts most closely resemble your own.
