Set in the working-class Watts neighborhood of South Los Angeles, If I Go Will They Miss Me is Walter Thompson-Hernández's 2026 drama about family, legacy, place, and a difficult father-son relationship. Twelve-year-old Lil Ant is trying to reconnect with his father, Big Ant, after Big Ant's release from prison. Lil Ant's imagination turns everyday life into something mythic, with visions connected to Greek mythology, airplanes, and flight. Lozita, Big Ant's wife, carries much of the family's practical and emotional weight, while JJ, Big Ant's longtime friend, provides a grounded connection to his life outside the home. The film expands Thompson-Hernández's 2022 short of the same name and premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival.
