Dalip Singh Rana is an Indian-American wrestler, actor, and promoter. He is popular by the name "The Great Khali." World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is his current company. The Great Khali has been his most prominent ring name throughout his 17-year career. After growing up in a humble family, Rana first did odd jobs to make ends meet before joining the Punjab State Police. His wrestling skills were honed at the gym, where he worked out in his free time. A specialist wrestling training program and better opportunities brought him to the US. Multiple promotions soon caught his attention as he had a 2.16 m frame. After training with the California-based company APW, he gained additional experience with the World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW).
Career:
1999: Dalip Singh Rana was accepted as a trainee into the All Pro Wrestling (APW) boot camp after he migrated to the US.
2000: Giant Singh made his professional wrestling debut, teaming up with Tony Jones in a match against West Side Playaz in October 2000.
On May 28, 2001: During training with Brian Ong, Singh was training.
In 2001, Rana was signed by WCW after relocating to San Francisco. He was cut short by WWE owner Vince McMahon's purchase of the promotion.
In January 2006: Khali signed with WWE, and was sent to Georgia-based promotion Deep South Wrestling (DSW).
On May 21, 2006: At the 'Judgment Day' pay-per-view event, Khali defeated The Undertaker comprehensively.
In May 2011: he was back as the menacing giant gimmick.
Awards:
A former 'World Heavyweight Champion' of the WWE, the Great Khali. The belt was presented to him on July 17, 2007, after he won a 20-man battle royal. On July 20, 'SmackDown' aired.
The 'Slammy Award' was given to him for the '"Damn! Moment of the Year' for his work on the Kali Kiss Cam in 2008.
