New York Liberty drafted Nurse tenth overall in the 2018 WNBA draft. The Nurse would join players such as Tina Charles and Epiphanny Prince on the Liberty. On 20th May 2018, Nurse made her WNBA debut, scoring 17 points in an 80–76 loss to the Chicago Sky. Nurse scored 34 points in the Liberty's 87–81 overtime victory over the Indiana Fever in June 2018, a season-high for rookies in the WNBA.

The Canadian National team finished in second place with a silver medal thanks to her ten-point average. Cuba defeated Canada 79–71 in the championship game after winning the preliminary round 53–40.

There are two older siblings, Tamika Nurse, who played basketball for Oregon and Bowling Green, and Darnell Nurse, who plays professional hockey. Donovan McNabb, who played for the Philadelphia Eagles for ten seasons, is her uncle, married to her aunt Raquel Nurse McNabb. Sarah Nurse is her cousin who played for the Wisconsin Badgers women's ice hockey team and competed for Team Canada at the 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympics.
