Kia Nurse was born on 22nd February 1996. She is a Canadian basketball player for the Seattle Storm of the WNBA. TSN also features her as a basketball analyst. Nurse has played for the Canadian Women's National Basketball Team. She has been selected to compete in the 2020 Summer Olympics. By the time she was seven years old, Kia Nurse was playing competitive basketball.Her elementary school was St. Vincent de Paul. She played basketball at Hamilton's St. Thomas More Catholic Secondary School. Her team won three consecutive OFSAA titles in 2011, 2012, and 2013. Hamilton Transway Club won seven consecutive provincial championships under her leadership.

New York Liberty drafted Nurse tenth overall in the 2018 WNBA draft. The Nurse would join players such as Tina Charles and Epiphanny Prince on the Liberty. On 20th May 2018, Nurse made her WNBA debut, scoring 17 points in an 80–76 loss to the Chicago Sky. Nurse scored 34 points in the Liberty's 87–81 overtime victory over the Indiana Fever in June 2018, a season-high for rookies in the WNBA.

There are two older siblings, Tamika Nurse, who played basketball for Oregon and Bowling Green, and Darnell Nurse, who plays professional hockey. Donovan McNabb, who played for the Philadelphia Eagles for ten seasons, is her uncle, married to her aunt Raquel Nurse McNabb. Sarah Nurse is her cousin who played for the Wisconsin Badgers women's ice hockey team and competed for Team Canada at the 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympics.
