Evelyn Ashford, an Olympic gold medalist, was born on April 15, 1957. During her career, Evelyn Ashford won the Olympic gold medal in the 100-meter dash in 1984. During the Olympics, she broke the 11-second barrier over 30 times and was the first athlete to do so.
Evelyn Ashford Career:
Ashford finished 5th at the 1976 Summer Olympics in the 100 meters as a 19-year-old.
Her first world record was set at the 1983 National Sports Festival when she ran 10.79 seconds in the 100 meters.
A gold medal was Ashford's chance at the 1984 Summer Olympics.
In 1988, she carried the American flag at the Opening Ceremony of the Summer Olympics.
It was on May 30, 1985, that Evelyn Ashford gave birth to her daughter, and again in 1986, she had a superb year.
