Memphis Depay was born on 13 February 1994. As a professional footballer, Memphis is also known simply as Memphis, and he plays as a forward for the Barcelona La Liga club as well as for the Netherlands national team. As a professional footballer, Memphis began his career at PSV Eindhoven, where he gained an influential part of his playing career under the influence of manager Phillip Cocu. In the 2014–15 season, he was the top scorer in the Eredivisie with 22 goals in 30 games, contributing to the team's first Eredivisie title since 2008 and contributing to the team's success in the league as a whole.
Career:
During his early years as a member of his boyhood club Moordrecht, Memphis made quite an impression on football scouts from Sparta Rotterdam.
2012: As a member of Jong PSV, the club's reserve team, Memphis had the opportunity to go on trial for PSV's first team during the 2011 season. In a match that took place in the KNVB Cup second round on 21 September 2011, he made his official debut for the club.
Under interim coach Phillip Cocu, Memphis was named as one of the teams that played in the 2012 KNVB Cup Final at De Kuip in Rotterdam on 8 April. Memphis played the last four minutes of the 3–0 win against Heracles in place of Mertens.
2015: In a statement on 7 May 2015, PSV made it clear that the club had reached an agreement with Manchester United over the transfer of Memphis, subject to the completion of a medical.
A 1–0 win at Old Trafford marked Memphis' Premier League debut as the season opened with the Red Devils winning their first game of the campaign 1–0 against Tottenham Hotspur.
2017: Memphis signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with French club Lyon on 20 January 2017. The deal ties Memphis to Lyon until the summer of 2021, with the possibility of an extension.
2021: Memphis will be transferred to Barcelona free of charge on 19 June 2021 on a two-year contract.
2013: It was in the World Cup qualifying campaign on 15 October 2013 that Memphis made his international debut.
