Edinson Roberto Cavani Gómez was born on February 14, 1987. He represents Uruguay's national team and plays for La Liga club Valencia as a striker. Known as the Matador ('The Bullfighter'), he is widely regarded as one of the greatest strikers of his generation due to his intelligent movement off the ball, clinical finish, and ability to score with his head. He is widely thought of as one of the greatest strikers of all time.
Career:
Several big teams, including Juventus and Milan, were reportedly interested in signing Cavani after he made a breakthrough at the 2007 South American Youth Championship.
2007: Cavani has been selected as a member of the Uruguay national under-20 team to compete in the 2007 South American Youth Championship, which will take place in Paraguay
The signing of the promising Uruguayan to Palermo's squad, however, was announced by the club's chairman, Maurizio Zamparini, on 29 January 2007.
2008: The Uruguayan senior team played Colombia 2–2 in the Uruguayan national team's first match, during which Cavani scored his first goal for the Uruguayan national team.
2010: Cavani signed a contract with Napoli in July.
It was Cavani who opened the scoring in Napoli's first Champions League game of the season, a 1-1 away draw at Manchester City on 14 September.
On 26 August, Cavani scored the final goal as Napoli defeated former club Palermo 3–0 in their Serie A opener, making it Cavani's first goal of the season.
2013: It was reported on 16 July that Cavani signed a five-year contract with French champions Paris Saint-Germain for a fee estimated to have been approximately €64 million, making it one of the six largest transfers in history, at the time.
On 9 August, Cavani debuted for Paris Saint-Germain as a 72nd-minute substitute in a league match against Montpellier, replacing the injured Lavezzi.
2018: Having missed the first three games of PSG's 2018 season due to his injury sustained at the World Cup, Cavani played his first game of the new season.
2022: Valencia announced to the world that Cavani had signed a two-year contract with the club.
