The late Fanny "Bobbie" Rosenfeld was born on December 28, 1904, and passed away on November 13, 1969. She won two medals at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, gold in the 100-metre relay and silver in the 100-metre race. As a star basketball player, hockey player, softball player, and tennis player, she was called Bobbie due to her "bobbed" haircut. Bobbie Rosenfeld Award honors her for being the "Canadian woman athlete of the half-century" in 1949. An Ontario Sports Hall of Fame induction was bestowed on her in 1996.
Career:
1949: As one of the first women to receive the honor of being inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame of Canada, Rosenfeld was inducted in 1949.
1978: Bobbie Rosenfeld Award was first presented by The Canadian Press in 1978 to Canada's female athlete of the year.
Fanny "Bobbie" Rosenfeld’s first job was as a basketball center for the Young Women's Hebrew Association (YWHA) in Toronto.
1920: The superwoman of ladies' hockey, Rosenfeld was a hockey player in the 1920s.
1928: Rosenfeld made his track and field debut in the Summer Olympics and competed on a championship softball team.
