Ada Limón was born on March 28, 1976 in Sonoma, California. An American poet, she has written a number of books. Her name was announced as the 24th Poet Laureate by the Librarian of Congress on 12 July 2022. As a result, she became the first Latina Poet Laureate in the country's history.
Career:
As a writer and teacher, Limón now divides her time between Lexington, Kentucky, and Sonoma, California, where she teaches and writes for a variety of magazines, including Martha Stewart Living, GQ, and Travel + Leisure.
2005: Ada Limón was awarded the Autumn House Poetry Prize in 2005 for his first book, Lucky Wreck, which was selected by Jean Valentine.
2006: Ada Limón won the Pearl Poetry Prize for This Big Fake World.
2015: Limón released Bright Dead Things, his fourth book.
2015: Among her nominations for the National Book Award for Poetry, she was shortlisted as a finalist.
2018: A National Book Critics Circle Award was subsequently awarded to her book, The Carrying, published.
2014: In The New Yorker's June 2, issue, she published the poem "State Bird.".
The poem "How to Triumph Like a Girl" (2013), which depicts different aspects of women riding horses, won a Pushcart Prize in 2015.
