Meena Alexander Early Life
Meena Alexander was born in the Syrian christen family. She was the daughter of Mary Alexander and George, who belongs to Kerala, India. Meena Alexander’s father worked for Indian government as the meteorologist and her mother was the house wife. Meena Alexander maternal grandmother named as kunju was died before the birth of Meena Alexander. Her maternal grandmother worked with the mahatma Gandhi as she was a theologian.

Meena Alexander got the tuition from her grandparents on speaking and writing English language. At the age of 13 years, she had completed her high school in Khartoum. She composed short stories in Malayalam at that time she was the child. she felt that in starting ,unable to translate into English. At the age of 15 years, Meena Alexander officially changed her name to Mary Elizabeth to Meena. In year 1969, Meena Alexander completed her bachelor’s in English and French from the Khartoum University.
