John Paul Densmore was born on December 1, 1944. In addition to being a musician, songwriter, author, and actor, he is also an author. In addition to playing timpani, he was also a member of an orchestra. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducts him as the drummer of the rock band the Doors. He played drums that were influenced by jazz, world music, and rock 'n' roll on all the band's recordings.
John Densmore Career:
In 1973, Densmore and fellow ex-Doors member Krieger formed the Butts Band.
In 1975, the group disbanded after releasing two albums with two different lineups.
Performing with Bess Snyder and Co. for two years, Densmore moved from rock and roll to dance in the 1980s.
In 1984, he appeared in his first stage play, Skins, at La Mama Theatre in New York.
His other books include The Seekers (2020), a book in which he discusses notable individuals who have helped him and others in his life.
A Los Angeles Weekly Theater Award was given to him for the music he composed for Tim Robbins' Methusalem in 1985.
It is this book, titled The Doors Unhinged, which recounts Densmore's long-running, but ultimately successful battle against Krieger and Manzarek over the use of the Doors' name and logo while touring and Densmore's opposition to the Cadillac commercial offer, which was released in 2013.
