David Paich is an American musician, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known as the keyboardist and co-founder of the rock band Toto. Paich is regarded as one of the most accomplished keyboard players of his generation and has been a prominent figure in the music industry for over four decades. He has written or co-written many of Toto's most popular songs, including "Africa," "Rosanna," and "Hold the Line."
David Paich Career:
The late 1960s to early 1970s: Paich begins his music career as a session musician, working with artists such as Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan, and Seals and Crofts.
1976: Paich co-founds Toto with a group of fellow session musicians. The band quickly becomes known for its tight musicianship and its innovative fusion of rock, pop, R&B, and jazz.
1977-1982: Toto releases its first five studio albums, which are commercially successful and critically acclaimed. Paich writes or co-writes many of the band's biggest hits during this period.
1982-1989: Toto continues to release albums and tour, although its commercial success begins to wane. Paich also begins working on solo projects during this time.
1990s to present day: Toto continues to tour and release albums, although it has experienced several personnel changes over the years. Paich remains an active member of the band and continues to write, produce, and perform with Toto to this day.
