Bill Weld U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts:
• Bill Weld Nixon became interested in criminal law because of his time spent working on the impeachment inquiry staff.
• Rudy Giuliani, the Associate U.S. Attorney General at the time, nominated Weld to President Reagan in 1981 for the position of U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts.
Bill Weld Promotion to Justice Department
• President Reagan elevated Weld to lead the Justice Department's Criminal Division in Washington, D.C., in 1986. There, he was responsible for 700 staff members. 
• Along with United States Deputy Attorney General Arnold Burns, Weld resigned from the Justice Department in March 1988.
