Amy Lynn Chua is an American corporate lawyer, legal scholar, and writer born October 26, 1962. Currently she is the John M. Duff Jr. Professor of Law at Yale Law School.

Amy Chua Early Life:

She was born in Champaign, Illinois to parents with Hoklo ancestry who emigrated from the Philippines. With her parents raising her to speak Hokkien she went on to do great things. She has a professor of electrical engineering and computer science at the University of California named Leon O. Chua as a father.

Amy Chua Career:

•    Amy taught at Duke Law School for seven years before joining the Yale faculty in 2001.
•    Such as being placed in Time Magazine’s “100 Most Influential People” list, and named one of The Atlantic's Brave Thinkers one year later.
•    Graduating with honors from Harvard College in 1984, Chua earned herself an A.B. in Economics. Three years later she obtained her J.D. from Harvard Law School.
•    In 2003 Chua released World on Fire which explores ethnic conflict caused by societies. 
•    In 2007 she published Day of Empire which looks into seven major empires.
•    In 2011, Her third book was called Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother and it was published in January.
•    Political Tribes: Group Instinct and the Fate of Nations was released February 2018 and became her fifth book.
•    In 2018, Allegedly, she told female students to dress more “outgoing” when seeking employment according to HuffPost and The Guardian.
•    In 2019, Chua agreed to refrain from drinking or socializing outside of class with students.

Amy Chua Personal Life:

Chua’s been living in New Haven, Connecticut with her husband, Jed Rubenfeld, a professor over at Yale Law School. 
Together they have two daughters — Sophia and Louisa or “Lulu” for short.
In 2014 she appeared in the New Yorker as a Harvard member of Kappa Alpha Theta and ROTC.
