Barbara Jill Walters was a television host and broadcast journalist from the United States. She served as the host of several television programmes, such as the View, 20/20, the ABC Evening News, and Today. She was well renowned for her aptitude for interviews and appeal to viewers. From 1951 until her resignation in 2015, Walters worked as a journalist. Walters was given a Lifetime Achievement Award from the NATAS in 2000, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2007, and induction into the Television Hall of Fame in 1989.

In 1953: Walters started her career at WNBT-TV, NBC's primary New York affiliate.
In 1961: She joined NBC's Today Show as a writer and researcher after working as a publicist at Tex McCrary Inc.
In 1971: A local NBC affiliate program, Not for Women Only, was hosted by Walters after The Today Show in the morning.
