Calvin Richard Klein is an American fashion designer who, in 1968, founded the business that would eventually become Calvin Klein Inc. He has also given his name to a variety of jewellery, watches, and perfumes moreover to clothing. He attended the High School of Art and Design in Manhattan before enrolling at the Fashion Institute of Technology, where he was awarded an honorary doctorate in 2003 despite never receiving a diploma. He completed his apprenticeship at Dan Millstein, a producer of historical cloaks and suits, in 1962. Then he worked five years creating designs for numerous establishments in New York City.

Career:
In 1964: He wed Jayne Centre, a textile designer.
In 1968: He founded his first business alongside Barry K. Schwartz, a friend from their youth.
In 2003: Klein demolished a Hamptons beachfront estate and built a $75 million glass-and-concrete mansion in Southampton, New York.
In 2015: A mansion he owns in Miami Beach, Florida is on the market for $16 million.
In 2015: Klein spent $25 million on a house in Los Angeles, California.

Achievements and Awards:
In 1974: The form-fitting trademark jeans that Klein created would bring in $200,000 in their first week of sales.
In 1983: His name was on the list of International Best Dressed.
In 1991: He was awarded the Golden Plate Award by the American Academy of Achievement.
