General Anil Chauhan was born on May 18th, 1961. Since September 30th, 2022, he has been the second Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of the Indian Armed Forces. In 1977 he graduated from the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, in the 58 Course, and in 1980 he graduated from the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, in the 68 Course. He served in the 11th Gorkha Rifles for four decades after being commissioned in 1981.
Career:
In 1977: Gen Chauhan joined the National Defence Academy (NDA) after school at the Kendriya Vidyalaya at Fort William, Kolkata.
1977: Khadakwasla (58 Course) was his first course.
1981: Anil Chauhan graduated from the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun (68 Course).
1981: Anil Chauhan was commissioned into the 6th Battalion of the 11th Gorkha Rifles (6/11 GR) as a second lieutenant, shortly after graduating from the IMA.
Following Manoj Mukund Naravane's appointment as Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS) on August
2019: Anil Chauhan was appointed GOC-in-C, Eastern Command.
May 31st, 2021: Anil Chauhan got retirement from the post of General Chauhan.
