Abhinandan Varthaman is a fighter pilot in an Indian Airforce. He did his schooling at Sainik School, Amaravathinagar. Abhinandan completed his graduation from the National Defence Academy NDA. His father is a retired IAF officer, and mother is a doctor. The Pakistani Army detained Abhinandan as a prisoner of war for 60 hours when the aircraft of Abhinandan was shot down in an aerial dogfight. Abhinandan is the only soldier detained by the Pakistani Army, and he came back alive to India.
Career:
• In 2004: Initially, Abhinandan was designated to the position of a fighter pilot.
• In 2010: Abhinandan became the squadron leader from the fighter lieutenant.
• In 2017: The soldier was promoted to a Wing commander from the squadron leader.
• In 2019: Abhinandan was flying MIG-21 as a sortie confused to intercept an intervention into Indian administered Kashmir by Pakistani aircraft.
• In 2021: He promoted as a Group captain from the Wing commander.
Awards and Achievement:
• In 2019: Abhinandan honored the Param Vir Chakra by the government of India.
• Abhinanadan received the Special Service Medal and nine years Long Service Medal.
