Marillyn Adams Hewson was born on December 27, 1953 in Junction City, Kansas. A successful businesswoman, she serves as the CEO of Lockheed Martin's strategic advisory team. Her previous role was chairman, president, and CEO from January 2013 until June 2020. As of March 1, 2021, she is no longer the executive chairman and a board member. While at the University of Alabama, she earned her Bachelor of Science in business administration and her Master of Arts in economics degrees. Her executive development programs were also conducted at Columbia Business School and Harvard Business School.
Career:
In 1983: Hewson worked for the Bureau of Labor Statistics for four years before joining Lockheed Corporation.
On November 9, 2012: Hewson was elected to the board of directors of Lockheed Martin. From January 2013 until June 2020, she served as CEO.
In 2017: The Harvard Business Review ranked Hewson 35 on its list of the world's best-performing CEOs.
As a member of the selection committee for 2019, Hewson was named "CEO of the year" by Chief Executive magazine for 2018.
In 2018: Hewson received the Edison Achievement Award in 2018 for her leadership and contributions to innovation.
In 2019: Time magazine named Hewson one of the 100 Most Influential People of 2019.
In 2019: The Golden Plate Award was presented by General Joseph Ralston, USAF, former Supreme Allied Commander Europe to Hewson.
