About (Profile/Biography):
Khushwant Singh, one of the most well-known poets from India ever, was born in Hadali, now located in Pakistan, in 1915. His father used to work in Lutyen's Delhi and was one of the most well-known builders of his era. He attended New Delhi's Modern School. Additionally, he attended Government College in Lahore for his higher schooling. Singh then went to London to attend King's College.
Career:
In 1938, Singh first began his career as a practicing attorney. For a solid 8 years, he worked diligently and gave it his all at the Lahore Court.
Khushwant joined the IFS after India gained its independence in 1947.
He left the IFS in 1951 and began working as a journalist for All India Radio.
In 1954, Khushwant was employed at UNESCO in Paris. He entered the editorial business in 1956 and began editing Yojana, a publication published by the Indian government.
Khushwant served as the newspaper's editor for the years 1980 to 1983. After his tenure as editor ended, he continued to contribute to the newspaper with a widely syndicated piece titled "With Malice Towards One and All." The column was well known for its caustic humor and wit.
Awards & Achievements:
In 1984, Khushwant Singh returned the Padma Bhushan he had received in 1974 in opposition to Operation Blue Star.
Additionally, he received the Padma Vibhushan (2007)
Unknown facts:
At the age of 98, Singh passed away from natural causes on March 20, 2014.
He was a Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament from 1980 to 1986.
