Thirteen years after the catastrophic event known as “Red Day,” roughly 90 percent of humanity has been infected and died, with many returning as zombies. The survivors have moved away from the cities and live in isolated villages, trying to build lives far from the dangers of the ruined world. For children born after the collapse, the old world is something they have never experienced firsthand.
The story follows Aki, a lively and curious girl who has grown up in one of these protected villages. When she decides to search for her father, who left the village years earlier, she ventures outside with her childhood friends Haru and Natsuki. Their mission quickly becomes more than a family search: every abandoned street, unfamiliar building, and zombie encounter tests what they know about survival.
Although the world beyond the village is dangerous, Aki finds it vast, unfamiliar, and beautiful. That contrast gives the series its distinctive tone: suspense and danger sit alongside wonder, friendship, awkward discoveries, and the excitement of exploring places that were previously out of reach. The group’s journey also brings them into contact with other survivors, including Yu and Sakura, expanding their small circle as they navigate a changed world.
This quiz focuses on four characters: Aki, the curious and upbeat initiator; Haru, her close friend who joins the journey; Natsuki, a knowledgeable and caring childhood friend who is cautious and not especially athletic; and Yu, a calm, guarded survivor who has experience with the outside world. Their different instincts offer four ways to respond to uncertainty, danger, friendship, and discovery.
The questions turn details of the anime’s zombie-filled cities, isolated settlements, search for Aki’s father, and uneasy new friendships into personality choices. This is not a trivia test, and every option is valid. Choose the response that feels most natural, then count the character names in brackets to discover whose instincts most closely match yours.
