The protagonist, Fia Ruud, belongs to a family with a long tradition of knighthood. Unlike her talented siblings, she struggles with swordsmanship, but that weakness never extinguishes her determination to become a knight. She wants to prove herself through courage and perseverance rather than relying on her family's reputation or extraordinary abilities.
Everything changes when a dangerous encounter leaves Fia close to death. Her memories of a previous life awaken, revealing that she was once Seraphina, a princess and the Great Saint who fought against the Demon King approximately 300 years earlier. Along with those memories, her remarkable healing and protective magic returns.
However, her former life was marked by betrayal and a tragic death. Fia remembers the threat posed by the Demon King's powerful subordinate, who promised to hunt her down if she were ever reincarnated as a Saint. Determined to avoid repeating her past, she decides to hide her identity and pursue her dream of becoming a knight.
Her encounter with Zavilia, a powerful black dragon she saves, introduces another complication. Their familiar contract creates a special bond, while Zavilia's formidable abilities make it increasingly difficult for Fia to remain unnoticed. Her kindhearted nature also works against her plans because she cannot easily ignore people who need help.
The story expands through Fia's encounters with the knightly world, including Saviz Nav, the respected commander of the Black Dragon Knight Brigade, and Cyril Sutherland, a capable knight captain who supports the order. Their different personalities and responsibilities bring new challenges to Fia's efforts to protect her secret.
