Florence Delorez Griffith Joyner, a top known sports woman, was born on December 21, 1959. The nickname she was given was Flo-Jo, and she was a track and field athlete. It was in 1988 that she set both 100 m and 200 m world records. As a result of her record-breaking athletic abilities and eclectic personal style, she became a popular figure during the late 1980s. When Griffith raced 100 meters in the 1988 "U.S. Olympic trials", he set a new world record. Three gold medals were won by her at the 1988 Olympics.
