Brittney Yevette Griner, better known as  Brittney Griner, was born in Texas, on October 18, 1990. As a professional basketball player, Brittney Griner represents the US in international competitions. She participated in college basketball with the Baylor Lady Bears in Texas. In terms of points and shot blocks, she holds the NCAA record of 2,000 points and 500 blocks. Griner grabbed international attention when she was detained in Russia in 2022 for a drug offence. She was later found guilty and sentenced to nine years in jail.

Careers:

From 2009 -2013, she competed for the Texas-based Baylor University squad.

In 2011: In Europe, Griffin played for the US national team for over the course of two weeks

In 2013: Brittney made WNBA history by slamming the ball twice in one play during her professional debut.  During the same year, Phoenix Mercury picked her first overall in the WNBA draft

In 2014: Griner blocked 11 shots in one game, setting a WNBA record.

In 2016: Brittney Griner was a member of the US women's Olympic team that took home the gold at the Rio Olympics.
