Danielle Bernstein is a native of the United States who launched the fashion blog and company WeWoreWhat when she was a sophomore in college. She started her own fashion lines and has worked with several other brands. In 2010, Bernstein completed her high school education at William A. Shine Great Neck South. She then briefly enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Madison to study retail before transferring to the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. She left college early in order to focus more time on her blog and make it a job.

In 2011: Bernstein founded WeWoreWhat as a portrait photographer, which quickly evolved into a personal-style blog.
In 2016: Bernstein launched the direct-to-consumer brand Second Skin Overalls.

At FIT, Bernstein started capturing and publishing pictures of her own ensembles in addition to those of other students. As a result of the success of her blog, she attracted the attention of companies like Macy's, Shopbop, and Topshop. She quickly began missing school in order to meet with fashion brands and freshen up her content.
She had teamed up with a business that created custom shoes. Her initial attempt at designing was an immediate success, with the first run selling out in less than a week. However, there were problems with the second and third runs: the material quality dropped, and buyers began to gripe.
