Susanna Lee Hoffs was born on 17th January 1959. She is a singer, guitarist, songwriter, actress, and author. In 1981, Hoffs, Debbi, and Vicki Peterson founded the Bangles (formerly the Bangs). All Over the Place was their first full-length album, released by Columbia Records in 1984. Hoffs, Billy Steinberg, and Tom Kelly wrote the US top-ten hits "In Your Room" and "Eternal Flame" for the group's third album, Everything (1988). The group split in 1989 due to tensions within the Band, including resentment at Hoffs being viewed as the group's leader. In 1999, the Bangles reformed and released two albums.

• Susanna Hoffs appeared in Tamar Simon Hoffs' films Stony Island (1978) and The Haircut (1982). Similarly, her mother directed the comedy film The Allnighter (1987), which was both a critical and commercial failure.
• Her first solo album was When You're a Boy, released in 1991, followed by Susanna Hoffs, released in 1996.

• Susanna Hoffs, her boyfriend David Roback (a former Palisades High School mate), and his brother Stephen Roback started a band called the Psychiatrists, or the Unconscious. Hoffs was a Berkeley student at the time.
