Pink was born on September 8, 1979, in Pennsylvania, U.S. Pink has described herself as an "Irish-German-Lithuanian-Jew and identifies as Jewish. Pink attended Central Bucks High School West. Pink joined her first band in high school, Middleground, but it disbanded after losing a Battle of the Bands. Pink started performing in Philadelphia clubs when she was about 14 years old. Pink adopted her nickname "Pink" as her stage name.

• At 16, Pink, with two other teenage girls, Chrissy Conway, and Sharon Flanagan formed the R&B group Choice.
• After that, Pink signed them to a record deal. Since the three girls were under 18, their parents had to cosign the contract.

• Pink signed a contract with LaFace Records and started working on her first solo album with producers such as Kandi Burruss, Babyface, and Tricky Stewart.
• Pink's first solo single, "There You Go," was released in February 2000 and became the first top-ten hit on the 100 Billboard Hot chart, where the album peaked at number seven.
