Ed Sheeran was born on 17 February 1991 and is an English singer-songwriter. He grew up in Framlingham, Suffolk, and began writing songs around the age of eleven. In early 2011, Sheeran independently released No. 5 Collaborations Project, an extended play. A year later, he signed a record deal with Asylum Records. Earlier this year, Sheeran released his debut album, + ("Plus"), which topped the UK Albums Chart. His first hit single was "The A-Team." Sheeran won the Brit Awards for Best British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act in 2012. Sheeran's second studio album, × ("Multiply"), reached the top of the charts worldwide upon release in June 2014.

2004–2010: Career beginnings
• Ed Sheeran auditioned for the ITV series Britannia High in 2008. During his tenure as a guitar technician for Nizlopi, he also opened for them in Norwich in April 2008.
• In early 2009, Sheeran enrolled in the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) in Guildford, Surrey, as an undergraduate. He later left without permission to support rapper Just Jack.
2011–2013: Debut studio album, + ("Plus")
• Ed Sheeran appeared on the BBC music show Later... to perform his debut single, "The A-Team." Digital downloads of "The A Team" were released six weeks later in the UK. It was the lead single from Sheeran's debut studio album, + ("Plus").
• Ed Sheeran opened Swift's Red Tour across North America from March to September 2013. The tour was Sheeran's biggest, and he added a scarlet RED tattoo to commemorate it.
2014–2015: Second studio album, × ("Multiply")
• Ed Sheeran revealed "Take It Back" as part of the Teenage Cancer Trust charity concert on 24 March 2014. The lead single, "Sing," was released on 7 April 2014.
• Ed Sheeran wrote "Love Yourself" for Justin Bieber's fourth album in 2015. Sheeran originally planned to include the song on his third album, but the track would have been scrapped before Bieber took it.
2023–present: Sixth studio album, - ("Subtract")
Ed Sheeran announced on 1 March 2023 that the release date of his sixth studio album, - ("Subtract"), would be 5 May 2023. The album's lead single, "Eyes Closed," and its accompanying music video were released on 24 March 2023.
