She is known for the most significant song in the 1977 hit "You Light Up My Life," which spent a few weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Boone later focused her music career on republic music, resulting in the 1980 number-one country song "Are You on the Road to Lovin' Me Again."
