Bhupen Hazarika, a singer from India, was born in India. When he was young, his tutors saw him as a prodigy and let it be known to others. Which is why he had no problem being ahead of the class. His talents weren’t limited to singing though. Bhupen composed music, wrote lyrics and even contributed vocals to countless films in Assamese, Bengali, and Hindi. Outside of that he also left his mark on Indian literature and film in general. Many of his songs were translated into multiple languages. But they all share a common theme of compassion and worldwide brotherhood. Despite moving many times during his youth, Bhupen’s family landed in Tezpur. It’s there where Jyoti Prasad Agarwala, an Assamese lyricist discovered him along with Bishnu Prasad Rabha who’s an Assamese artist.

Additionally, Bhupen composed timeless music for numerous Assamese and Bangla films, including Aarop, Chameli Memsaab, and Shimana Perye.

Bhupen was also a well-known playback singer in Hindi and Assamese, contributing his captivating voice to films like "Era Bator Sur."
