Park Geun-hye was born in 1952. She served as South Korea's 11th president from 2013 to 2017, before being impeached and convicted of corruption. She was also the first woman elected as head of state in East Asia and the first woman in South Korea. She was also the first South Korean president born after the country was founded. Park Chung-hee, her father, served five consecutive terms as president from 1963 to 1979.
