Sir Nicholas “Nick” Harvey, born on 3 August 1961 in Chandler’s Ford, Hampshire, is a British Liberal Democrat politician and former Member of Parliament. He represented North Devon from 1992 to 2015, winning the seat five times and becoming one of the party’s longest-serving MPs. Harvey built a strong reputation on defence, rural affairs and civil liberties, later becoming Minister of State for the Armed Forces in the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition from 2010 to 2012. He was previously the Liberal Democrats’ Shadow Defence Secretary. After Parliament, Nick served as chief executive of the Liberal Democrats and later became chief executive of European Movement UK.
