Jerry Wesley Moran (born May 29, 1954 in Great Bend, Kansas) is a Republican U.S. Senator serving since 2011. Raised in rural Kansas, Moran earned degrees in economics and law before starting his career as a small town banker and prosecutor. He served in the Kansas State Senate (1989–1997) and U.S. House (1997–2011), before winning the open Senate seat vacated by Sam Brownback. Known for his advocacy of conservative values, farm interests and veterans, he chaired the National Republican Senatorial Committee during the 2014 cycle, helping Republicans regain Senate control.
