Jerrauld Charles Corey “Jay” Jones (born March 14, 1989) is an American attorney and Democratic politician from Norfolk, Virginia. He served in the Virginia House of Delegates representing the 89th District from 2018 to 2022. Raised in a family with a long history of public service and civil-rights activism, Jay built a career combining law, finance and politics first working at Goldman Sachs, then earning his J.D. at the University of Virginia, and entering elected office. In Richmond he championed progressive reforms including expanding Medicaid, raising teacher pay and creating the “Ashanti Alert” for missing adults. He is married with two sons and remains active in community boards in his hometown. As of 2025 he is the Democratic nominee for Virginia Attorney General, attracting both strong support and significant controversy.
