Janet Royall, Baroness Royall of Blaisdon, is a British Labour politician, life peer and former senior government minister. Born in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, she studied French and Spanish before entering European and Labour politics. Royall worked with Neil Kinnock and later spent eight years with the European Commission, eventually leading its Wales office. Created a life peer in 2004, she became Government Chief Whip and later Leader of the House of Lords under Gordon Brown.
