David Yutaka Ige was born on January 15, 1957. He served as Hawaii's eighth governor from 2014 to 2022. His service in the Hawaii State Senate began in 1995 and ended in 2014. There was also a stint as a member of the Hawaii House of Representatives between 1985 and 1995. His primary victory over incumbent Governor Neil Abercrombie was followed by his victory over the Republican candidate Duke Aiona. In 2018, Ige won reelection against Republican candidate Andria Tupola.
