Born on 15 May 1972 in Edinburgh, Scotland, he spent part of his childhood in the Scottish Highlands and studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford. Danny became an important figure in the 2010 coalition negotiations between the Liberal Democrats and Conservatives. He served briefly as Secretary of State for Scotland before becoming Chief Secretary to the Treasury, a position he held until 2015. After leaving Parliament, he moved into international finance, later becoming Vice-President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
