Damian Howard Green was born on 17 January 1956. From June to December 2017, he served as First Secretary of State and Minister for the Cabinet Office in the Second May government. He has represented Ashford as a Conservative Member of Parliament (MP) since 1997. The UK Prime Minister Theresa May appointed him Secretary of State for Work and Pensions in July 2016. He was promoted to First Secretary of State and Minister for the Cabinet Office following the June 2017 general election. He became Acting Chair of the Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport Committee when Julian Knight stepped down and resigned in January and April 2023, respectively.

• Damian Green was born in Barry in Glamorgan, Wales. He was born and raised in Reading, Berkshire, and attended Reading School.
• Damian Green studied philosophy, politics, and economics at Balliol College. He served as president of the Oxford Union in 1977 and vice-chairman of the Federation of Conservative Students (now Conservative Future) from 1980 to 1982.
