Barack Obama is well known American politician born in Hawaii. Barack Obama served as the nation's 44th president. He is the first African-American to hold the position and was born in Kenya to a black father and a white American mother. He held the 13th District seat in the Illinois Senate for three terms before being elected president, and his bid to serve Illinois in the US Senate garnered widespread attention. Obama was a respected civil rights lawyer before going into politics.

Career:
Barack studied at Harvard Law School and Columbia University. He overcame Republican contender John McCain in the general election after accumulating enough votes in the Democratic Party primaries to clinch the nomination.
In 1992, Barack accepted a lecturer post at the University of Chicago Law School, and in 1996, he was promoted to Senior Lecturer.
Barack started working as a civil rights attorney at Miner, Barnhill &Galland. He worked as a counsel from 1996 to 2004, after three years as an associate from 1993 to 1996.
In 2004: Barack was chosen to serve in the U.S. Senate.
In 2007: Barack launched his presidential candidacy

Achievements and Awards:
Barack has received two Grammys for Best Spoken Word Album. He received honors in 2006 for "Dreams from My Father" and "The Audacity of Hope" abridged audiobooks (2008).
For his "exceptional efforts to improve international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples," Barack Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009.
